General Admission Tickets $5
General Admission & Book $33.80
Atlanta Authors returns with another incredible Roswell Roots event!
What do The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, and The Isley Brothers have in common? Some of their biggest hits featured backup vocals by The Andantes—a Motown supergroup that appeared on an estimated 20,000 recordings… and yet many people have never heard their name.
Group member Louvain Demps joins co‑author Paul Milliken to discuss their book One Step Away: My Story of the Andantes, Motown, and the Women Behind the Sound of Young America.
Louvain shares behind‑the‑scenes stories from one of the most important eras in American recording history—and the true accounts of what it was really like inside legendary Motown Records.
For more than 25 years, Roswell Roots has celebrated the diverse voices, traditions, achievements, and cultural contributions of Black communities who have shaped Roswell, our nation, and the world. More than a celebration, the festival creates opportunities to explore our shared history, discover new perspectives, and experience the powerful influence of Black culture through storytelling, creativity, and community connection.
The 2027 festival will bring these stories and experiences to life through five categories—art, education, culture, performance, and history—featuring thought-provoking programs, dynamic performances, engaging conversations, and memorable experiences for all ages.
